For those of you who want to know who the biggest names and biggest brains in technology are and where they assemble each year it is at TED (Technology, Entertainment, and Design). Presenters, all experts in their fields offer us a vast array of tech news, innovation happening right now that we might not be aware of, and, ways to think about technology. The cool part is if you can’t attend, and TED is pretty hard to get into (if you ever do, let us know), you can find out what everyone who attended found out; you can watch online.
Find out what you might improve how you are currently teaching math. Dan Meyer talks about new ways to teach math and shares with you why it’s an exciting time to be a math teacher!
“I teach high school math. I sell a product to a market that doesn’t want it, but is forced by law to buy it.”
From TED: Today’s math curriculum is teaching students to expect — and excel at — paint-by-numbers classwork, robbing kids of a skill more important than solving problems: formulating them. At TEDxNYED, Dan Meyer shows classroom-tested math exercises that prompt students to stop and think.
