An Information architecture (IA) organizes and labels (tags) websites, intranets, online communities and software to support usability. This is a new and emerging career pathway that focuses on working with both the principles of web design and website architecture. The IA’s goal is to create a pathway for a website that leads to 1) people finding the website, and 2) people finding the website easy to use. Some job responsibilities include creating library systems and developing databases. As an IA you are the professional who brings together content or subject matter, context (written or spoken words near a certain or group of words that help explain the overall meaning), and web or application users.
